Finally, a notebook of staves that's appropriate for my 8-year old & his piano teacher to use together. My kid needed staves where the lines were distinct (not washed out/faint looking) and a bit far apart so that he could make his own notations. Similarly, his teacher prefers when the staves are spaced out on the page -- not all bunched together; plus, you get staves on both sides of the page -- my son and "Ms Katie" seem to write a lot -- which saves money in the long run since we wont need to replace the notebook too soon. The paper is not archival quality, but sufficiently heavy nonetheless -- at least for a young boy's purposes: the paper is not see-through or super light-weight like some other stave notebooks we used in the past. I was concerned that it was not "spiral bound": how would it stay open on the music stand? This ended up not being an issue for us: we press it open at the seam when we need to have it propped open (and the pages do not break away from the binding when we do this -- yay!). For prolonged use in the "open" position or for playing from notes on a back-side of the page, we sometimes grab a big binder clip (office supply store) and fasten it to the top of the stave book at the seam, and that has worked great for us. This is good stave notebook for the price. We're very satisfied.Product details

Manuscript Paper 8 Stave Name Works Press Books Reviews
This manuscript paper was so good, it "practically wrote the notes for me"
Large format is easier to sight read.
Good inter-line spacing for poor eyesight. Good inter-stave spacing for clarity & ease of reading at a distance. Paper quality is very good -- multiple erasures don't bother it.
This paper is for class assignments or personal jotting, not for anything high quality. That is not to say anything negative about the paper, but just to describe what it is. I bought it to write out band parts but it was unsuitable for that. The staves are very large vertically, with not much room between them, so might be best for a young person's assignments or such.
This is very nice manuscript paper. 8 staves per page is the perfect size for me. I found the 10 and 12 per page too crowded and the 6 per page made me feel like I was in elementary school (that was more than a few decades ago.. i bought this pad so that I could easily tear off individual pages. They tear off cleanly when I want them to and have so far remained attached to the pad when I want that. The paper is heavy enough to withstand multiple erasings without tearing and to prevent see-through if you write on the back. The backs are unlined and are perfect for notes.
